Day 1 - "Love is Patient"
Wow... we got the book at church yesterday (October 5th) and John was the first to read
it.
We always have issues with me handing in sales receipts. He takes care of
the checkbook and bills, so I hand in my receipts at the end of each day...
theoretically! Well... I'm terrible about this. They sit in my purse and I
repeatedly forget to give them to him.
Yesterday he sat down with the checkbook and very PATIENTLY asked, "Honey,
do you have any receipts in your wallet?"
I handed him receipts from 9/22! And he didn't flip out. In fact I was
completely puzzled about his calm reaction. Then I started to laugh when I
realized it and I said, "Love Dare"? He had a big grin on his face!
We both laughed.
Of course I promised to try to be better about the receipts.
But it still makes me smile to think about that moment.

Love, Love, Love this book!
This really spoke to me, I must lead my heart and not follow my emotions....Wow,
that is good stuff. So many times I react on my emotions (it is hard not to
in some cases.) I am asking the Lord to help me look at issues through my heart first and not to let my emotions rule the situation.

Baby Steps
I have just read the first chapter and WOW! Can I do this? Can I put myself second and my wife first? Even though I have disappointed her so many times, can I love her without doing it out of guilt? This book is definetly going to be a challenge for me. Pray for me as I try to read the second chapter and take baby steps towards fullfilling my role as a husband.
I thought we had a good marriage and I was apprehensive about doing the book ... I am so glad I did! We've been happily married over 20 years but this book has given me a wonderful appreciation for my spouse, I didn't know I had! Thanks Victory!!
